UPDATE: Homicide squad move in on Jill Meagher case.

The mystery surrounding the tragic disappearance of Brunswick resident Jill Meagher, who did not return home after a night out on Friday at Bar Ettiquette, has now seen detective squads take deeper action into the whereabouts of the 29-year old.

At 6:15pm this evening, Homicide Squad detectives entered the Meaghers’ Lux Way apartment, resurfacing 25 minutes later with several large brown paper bags full of Jill’s clothing and further evidence.

More Squad detectives arrived at the apartment at 7pm in an unmarked police car, leaving with two small boxes.

Police have confirmed that Ms Meagher was captured on CCTV in the early hours of Saturday morning, having identified her walking down an alleyway only a few hundred metres from her Brunswick apartment at approximately 1:41am.

A passerby discovered Ms Meagher’s hangbag in a laneway off Hope St, which was later confirmed to be official evidence.

Reports are now being questioned as to whether the purse had been planted, after police came up empty handed on Monday. The bag’s contents had been untouched, except for Jill’s mobile phone, which is still missing and now turned off.

Jill Meagher was last seen leaving Bar Etiquette on Sydney Rd, Brunswick around 1:30am on Saturday, though police were previously skeptical as to whether she had indefinitely departed from the venue, before the bag was found.

Police, family and friends are pleading with the public to come forward with any information, even in the slightest, on Ms Meagher’s night out.

Issuing an official description of Jill Meagher, police have identified the young women to be of fair complexion, 165cm tall, slim build, long curly black hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a blue dress, bllack jacket, black stockings and high heels.

Crime Stoppers has recieved over 80 calls of witness accounts and information, regarding Jill’s case. Anyone with information should contact 1800 333 000 immediately.

My personal prayers and thoughts are with the family and friends at this time.
