Greenday lead vocalist and frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, has officially entered rehab after an ourtburst at the end of the band’s set at iHeartRadio’s festival last Friday in Las Vegas, before being hospitalised two days later.

The singer lost control toward the end of the band’s appearance on stage, when he assumed they were being cut short, launching into a tantrum of f-bombs and repeatedly screaming “I’m not Justin Bieber!” (minus the profanities), before smashing his guitar to pieces and throwing the remains into the crowd.

Greenday lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong admitted to rehab.

The band has posted on Facebook, stating that Billie Joe is “currently seeing treatment for substance abuse. We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologise to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas.”

Armstrong’s admission into rehab means upcoming promotional appearances will be postponed, and the band’s future shows will be revised.
