water for elephants.
If you haven’t seen it yet, then I highly recommend that you give yourself the much appealing film, Water for Elephants (2011). The film stars Robert Pattinson (Twilight, Harry Potter) and Miss. Hollywood herself, Reese Witherspoon.
Based on the novel by Sara Guen, the movie follows the historical story of the romance between vet, Jacob, and circus entertainer, Marlena, after his parents are killed during is last year of study at Cornell.
With the entertainment industry in the circus business begins to get fierce, with competition from rivals, Jacob is forced to endure a tough challenge of training the lovely elephant, Rose.
Though, not everything is as rosy as it seems.
Marlene’s husband, and director of the circus, grows abundantly furious from the pressure of his looming bankruptcy, due to the lack of tickets being sold. This anger is taken out on the beautiful creature that Jacob has grown so close to.
The film is not entirely about romance, but also compiles a compelling and heartbreaking story of animal cruelty in this circus, and circuses alike.
For those of you that enjoy a good read, Gruen’s novel is a spectacular read for more detail if you are itching for the film never to end.
Essentially, it is a “running-away-with-the-circus” type of film, just with a captivating twist.
